Bible Tuesday 10/8: Woe to You, Pharisees

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 97:1-12. Verse 10, do I not only love God but also hate evil? What does that look like in my attitudes and actions on this day? In what specific form does evil confront me? What’s to be done?

Ezra 5:1-17. God’s prophets, Haggai and Zechariah, embolden the Jews to press on building the temple regardless of opposition and threats. What charge has God given me to carry out today, no matter what?

II Corinthians 10:1-11. Verses 3-5, the warfare within. What specific tasks for a Christian makeover of heart and mind must I be about in this chapter of my life, in order that God may be glorified?

Luke 11:37-44. Christian makeover, continued. When has Jesus called me out as a Pharisee, a phony? Action point for today?
