Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 140:1-13. Verse 3, poisonous words. What form may these take when spoken by me or about me or to me today? What is God’s antidote?
Jeremiah 25:1-38. Verse 31, God has a controversy with the nations, Israel included. Right now, how have they provoked him? What does he intend in return? What is my church doing about it?
Romans 9:30-10:13. Verses 9-13, how to be saved. What do I want Jesus to save me from? What do I want to be saved for? How might others notice this, without ever talking to me?
Matthew 17:1-13. In daily life with Jesus, what may have been the attitudes and actions that qualified these three apostles to go with him up the mount of transfiguration? Application for this day?
