Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 60:1-12. Verse 4, this banner of truth that God gives to his faithful ones, what words would be on my banner or what would it look like? How is my banner to be displayed?
Jeremiah 50:1-46. Verses 5-7 and 17-19, when have I been a lost sheep? How did God show up?
John 11:1-44. Verse 41, Jesus thanks God for raising Lazarus, before it happens. What difficult problem am I facing at present, where unreserved gratitude to the Father is called for, not later but right now?
John 11:45-12:11. Verse 10, enemies wanting Lazarus dead again. Why is the worldly mind so desperate to silence or erase all evidence that Jesus saves? What is my church doing to counter that?
