Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 50:1-23. Verse 10, cattle on a thousand hills, often quoted to illustrate God’s countless riches. From out of that treasury, what do I specially desire from him today? Is my desire unselfish, worthy, for his glory?
Jeremiah 48:1-47. Curses heaped upon curses against Moab. If I was to spell out what God should do to (or for) China, Russia, Iran, Hamas—or to the other political party—what would it be?
I Corinthians 4:9-21. Verse 10, fools for Christ. Why should I take on such a role? What does this ask me to think, say, and do? Are there other, equally valid ways of following Jesus?
Matthew 22:34-46. Thinking of what it looks like to live a life of consistently loving my neighbor, where do I need to do better, press harder? Action point for today?
