Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 16:1-11. Verse 10, when has it seemed I was facing the horrors of hell? How did God show up? Application to present needs?
Lamentations 5:1-22. Verse 16, related, has sin cost me the crown of God’s approval and favor? Have I any hope of regaining it?
John 19:38-42. Nicodemus, formerly afraid of being linked to Jesus, now bravely steps forward. Who do I know that has made such a journey of faith? Who might be ready to start, with my encouragement?
Matthew 27:62-66. Jewish and Roman leaders try to make sure Jesus “stays dead.” How do we see the worldly powers of today attempt the same thing? What is my church’s response? My role?
