Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 94:1-23. Verse 12, when has God chastened me with a stern lesson, hard to undergo but valuable for what I learned? Am I receiving another such lesson even now, testing my teachableness?
Ezekiel 2:1-10. What may be the symptoms of a spirit of rebellion among God’s people (perhaps subtle) at the present day? Am I vulnerable to it? How should I go about resisting it?
I Corinthians 10:1-13. Related, how the Israelites chafed against God during the Exodus. Verse 4, what does it mean in practical terms, this minute, for me to drink of the spiritual Rock of Christ?
John 6:15-21. Spiritually considered, here and now in the life I’m leading, what’s the storm I pray to see Jesus subdue? What’s the engulfing sea I hope to see him walk upon?
