Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 17:1-15. Verse 8, if God in fact loves and delights in me as the apple of his eye, what can I expect from him for this day, this week, this year? Or is declaring this a presumption I should avoid?
Ezekiel 30:1-26. God’s decree of war and woe in the Middle East, 2500 years ago. What good are my prayers for that strife-torn region at this late date?
I Peter 4:1-11. Verses 7-10, what attitudes and actions are required of me today if I’m to obey Jesus as a good steward of God’s grace?
John 8:13-20. Verse 14, if someone in the neighborhood, aware that I follow Jesus, asked me where he came from, why he came here, and where he is now, what would I tell them? (An elevator speech, 2-3 min.)
