Bible Sunday 6/2: Bending the Knee

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 80:1-19. Verse 5, have I, or someone I know, been on a steady diet of tears? Where is God in that situation? How can he allow it? Is he preparing a good outcome, a hidden blessing?

Leviticus 15:1-33. God’s directives to help his people combat leprosy. With due respect for modern medicine, what was lost when God was walled off from public health issues, as with Covid since 2020?

Acts 5:1-11. Have I ever tried to lie to God? What did I learn? How might such a situation subtly overtake me again?-

John 19:1-16. Verse 15, no king but Caesar. If the Jewish leaders, who had known better for a thousand years, could be frightened into such a surrender, how will I and my church find the strength to stand firm?
