Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 150:1-6. If I could make the activity of praising God as constant and as fundamental as the activity of breathing, how would that change the way I experience life today, and the way others experience me?
I Samuel 17:1-58. What is the most menacing Goliath confronting me and my family right now? What is the word of defiance that I will hurl back at it, in the name of the living God (verses 45-47)?
Acts 15:22-29. Verse 26, what is it costing me at present, in terms of sacrifice or risk, to follow Jesus Christ? If the cost were to sharply increase, how can I prepare, starting today?
Mark 6:45-52. What false fears is Jesus telling me to let go of today, on his authority? What proofs of his love and power (eg, miracle of the loaves) is he telling me to remember?
