Bible Thursday 7/11: Watch Out

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 26:1-12. Verses 2 and 3, if I really want God to examine me, what’s involved? How do I then learn his findings and directives? Where does his lovingkindness come in?

I Samuel 27:1-12. David’s cunning, narrated in a chapter that makes no mention of God. Does my life sometimes roll along in chapters that largely ignore God? What’s the risk? Action point today?

Acts 20:1-16. Young Eutychus is healed after a near-fatal fall at church. How can we foster, in my church or workplace or home, a healing atmosphere that welcomes and cooperates with the Holy Spirit?

Mark 8:31-38. Verse 34, what cross is Jesus asking me to take up today? What self-denial is involved?
