Bible Wednesday 7/10: For All the Marbles

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 27:1-14. Verse 4, what’s involved with beholding the beauty of the Lord as I go through the activities of this day? What’s involved with inquiring in his temple all day long?

I Samuel 26:1-25. David again spares Saul’s life. When have I thought myself justified in “fighting fire with fire”? Was God grieved? Application to present needs?

Acts 19:21-41. Ephesus erupts in rioting over Christian opposition to the idolatry of Diana. What present-day structures of wealth, power, and prestige are threatened by the Gospel? Where does my church stand?

Mark 8:27-30. Related, why is the worldly mind willing to see Jesus as just “one of the prophets” but fiercely opposed to seeing him as the incarnate Son of God, Savior and Lord? Where does my church stand?
