Bible Monday 7/22: She was First

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 60:1-12. Verse 4, God gives his faithful ones a banner of truth. How does this help me stand firm today amidst distressing or disruptive issues in the news or in my own life?

II Samuel 7:1-29. David, desiring to build God a house, is told God will first build him a house. What specific need of mine right now is addressed by the proverbial reminder that “You can’t out-give God”?

Song of Solomon 2:15-3:11. This uniquely poetic and passionate book of Scripture seeks to show us that the love between God and his child surpasses all human love. Have I found it to be so? Action point today?

John 20:1-18. Related, verses 13-15, when have I experienced a sense of loss or emptiness as if Jesus had been taken away and hidden from me? What did I learn?
