Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 55:1-23. Verse 17, is my prayer life structured each day according to time and form—or more spontaneous and variable according to need? Does it matter? Action point for today?
II Samuel 6:1-23. David exuberantly celebrates the ark of God with music and dancing, displeasing his wife. Is my approach to worship, emotional and demonstrative or solemn and reserved? Does it matter?
Acts 25:13-27. As the self-important politicians drone on, does Paul feel like a helpless pawn or an already triumphant soldier of the risen Jesus (verse 19)? Application to my present needs?
Mark 10:32-45. Related, the clueless James and John miss the news of Christ’s passion as they maneuver for personal gain. Today how shall I focus on what I can do for Jesus, not on what he can do for me?
