Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 134:1-3. How important or unimportant to me are the ancient bodily postures of prayer and praise—lifting up hands, head bowed, eyes closed, kneeling? Does it matter?
I Kings 17:1-24. What opportunities can I find to be more like Elijah today—obeying God boldly, trusting God meekly?
Job 9:1-35. Verse 33, Job longs for a mediator (daysman, arbiter, umpire) between himself and God. In what specific way do I need Jesus to mediate with the Father for me today?
Luke 3:7-22. Verses 9, 16, 17, has Jesus brought fire into my life? If not, shall I ask him to? If he has, who could benefit from hearing about it from me?
