Bible Saturday 8/24: A Voice in the Wilderness

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 130:1-8. Verses 3 and 4, what is the greatest forgiveness I ever received from God or another person? How can I show my gratitude for it today?

I Kings 16:1-34. Israel suffers under bad kings, bloodshed, treachery, idolatry. What form does idolatry take in American life these days? What is my church doing about it?

Job 8:1-22. Bildad lectures Job with platitudes. Who is the best spiritual comforter and counselor I have ever known? How can I grow to be more like that person? Who needs some encouragement from me today?

Luke 3:1-6.-By what attitudes and actions can I help prepare the way of the Lord in my immediate surroundings today?
