Bible Friday 8/23: Sow and Reap

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 126:1-6. What seed have I sown recently for Christ, that so far looks unpromising? How can I resist doubt and discouragement as I pray for a harvest?

I Kings 15:1-34. Asa’s wise and godly reign. Idols cast out, alliances forged. Why isn’t God raising up leaders of such caliber on the political scene today?

Job 7:1-21. Job’s anguish and bitterness, pleading with God to tell him why. Is something happening right now to me or a friend, prompting the same appeal to a seemingly absent God?

Mark 16:9-20. Verse 15, the risen Jesus commands us to preach the gospel everywhere to everyone. What the next specific step he is asking of me to fulfill?
