Bible Saturday 8/31: Fishing Lessons

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 148:1-14. Looking out my window today, or walking under the sky, what do I see that is pouring forth the praises of God? How does my day get better as a result?

II Kings 1:1-Ahab’s son, another bad king, pursues idolatry and pays with his life. What qualities of Elijah as a man of God shall I pray to express more fully today? What difficult consequences must I then prepare for?

Job 15:1-13. Eliphaz charges Job with defying God. Have I ever gotten above myself with spiritual pride? What did I learn?

Luke 5:1-16. Verse 10, what have I learned from Jesus so far about being a fisher of men? What’s next for me in that learning process? Do I need to take the whole thing more seriously and focus better?
