Bible Sunday 9/1: Like a Fruitful Tree

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 1:1-6. In promising that I will be like a fruitful tree, what is God offering me and expecting of me today?

II Kings 2:1-25. Elisha takes on the prophetic mantle when God calls Elijah home. Who has been a mentor to me in serving the Lord? Who now looks to me as a mentor? Action point for today?

Job 15:14-35. Verse 34, congregation of hypocrites, tabernacles of bribery. How can my church witness for Jesus with integrity and faithfulness, avoiding these pitfalls? My role?

Luke 5:17-26. Friends carry a paralyzed man to Jesus, who heals him. What person can I bring into contact with Christ today? Who will help me with the carry? What obstacles (crowd, roof) must we overcome?
