Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 23:1-6. Verse 4, what evils are a source of fear to me and my loved ones right now? What would it look like to have God comfort us and dispel that fear?
II Kings 9:1-37. Verse 20, “he drives furiously,” the holy zeal of King Jehu. Does God want me burning hot for his righteousness, or lukewarm?
Job 21:1-21. Job insists upon God’s wrath toward the evildoer. Am I confident in this assurance, or doubtful and worried?
Luke 6:37-42. If Jesus commands me personally to clear my own eye today, never mind clearing the other person’s eye, what is he specifically telling me to get busy on?
