Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 38:1-22. Verse 11, when have I felt deserted by friends and family? How did God show up? What did I learn?
Genesis 14:1-24. Abram rescues Lot from captivity and refuses the spoils of war. Who needs me to come to their aid right now, both materially and spiritually? What limit, if any, shall I set on this aid?
Hebrews 7:1-28. How does my relationship with Jesus mean more to me today in realizing that he is our eternal High Priest, as well as our Lord and Savior, King and Shepherd?
Matthew 8:23-27. What storm do I need to have Jesus still for me today? How does this story address my fear that he is asleep, inattentive, or unavailable at my moment of desperate peril?
