Bible Sunday 3/16: A Sabbath Test

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 37:1-40. Verse 4, delight yourself in God. Through what thoughts and actions will I express this? Can I do it and still “fit in”? Will others, as a result, take delight in me—so it becomes a good contagion?

Proverbs 11:1—31. Verses 10 and 11, in what specific ways are the witness and works of my church a blessing to the city around us? My role?

Romans 14:14-23. Are the churches in my community set at odds by essentials or by non-essentials? Why can’t we work together more closely to honor Christ and advance his kingdom?

Matthew 12:9-21. How Jesus the wise and winsome, the disarming and masterful, fulfilled messianic prophecy. What bruised reed or smoking flax or beast entrapped or hand immovable will he put in my way today?
