Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 119:81-104. Verse 81, what seems hopeless in my life right now? What do I find in God’s word today that gives me hope?
Zechariah 11:1-17. Verses 12 and 13, thirty pieces of silver. How do I see money, material gain, and self-interest creeping in to corrupt the cause of Christ in these times? What is my church doing about it?
Luke 20:9-19. Verse 18, looking honestly into my own heart and manner of life, what do I see there that needs to be broken or ground down by Jesus the chief cornerstone?
Matthew 26:1-16. Related, what attitudes and impulses do I find in myself that are like this adoring woman? What elements in me, on the other hand, are like the disloyal disciple? How shall I feed the one and starve the other?
