Bible Sunday 3/30: The Bitter Cup

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 71:1-24. Verse 14, where does hope seem weak right now for myself or someone I care about? How I lean on God today for a stronger hope?

Proverbs 25:1-28. Verse 21, what opportunity can I find today to treat an enemy with kindness and generosity, to the glory of God?

I Corinthians 4:6-13. Who do I know that is a present-day example of the self-abasement of a true apostle of Christ? If I could take this posture here and now, what might that accomplish for the kingdom?

Matthew 20:17-28. Related, how does the self-importance of James and John and their mother find expression in me and get in the way of the kingdom?
