Bible Saturday 3/25: My Captain

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 87:1-7. How can this day, and all the rest of my days, be radically different because God has issued me a Zion birth certificate (verse 5)?

Ecclesiastes 6:1-12. If better than having 100 children or living 2000 years (verse 6) is having a soul filled with good (verse 3, KJV), how shall I proceed to measure and achieve that?

Hebrews 2:5-18. Jesus being the captain of my salvation (verse 10, KJV), how can I this day place myself more obediently under his orders and more fully at his service?

Luke 1:26-38. Protestant and Catholic contentions aside, simply allowing this story to astonish me today, who is Mary to me -- since she bore the baby who is my Lord and Savior?
