Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 145:1-21. Verse 4, how intergenerational is my Christian walk, spanning from those somewhat older than me to those somewhat younger? Why does this matter to God? Action point?
Isaiah 2:1-22. Verses 2-5, a prophetic vision of all peoples and nations at peace under God. In a time of bitter strife, what realistic opportunity does this offer me and my church? What must we avoid?
James 3:13-4:6. Verse 4, one is either friends with the world or friends with God. How do I live this out in a way that is both winsome to others and faithful to Jesus?
Luke 14:25-35. What has been the cost of discipleship to me up to this point in my life? What additional cost should I anticipate as good and evil collide more violently? How far would be too far for me to go?
