Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 62: 1-12. Verse 11, what rival powers would use this pandemic to overrule God? What sign of his superiority to each of them shall I pray for today?
Ezekiel 45:1-25. Verses 8 and 9, why does God forbid oppression and require justice? Why is it impossible to meet that standard in a government that excludes him? What is my church doing about it?
Ephesians 3:8-21. Verses 16-19, for what person or group, experiencing hardship or criticism in the Covid crisis, shall I pray this prayer, specifically tailoring it to their situation? Side benefit to my own situation?
John 15:9-17. Verse 11, how can I be full of joy today, in Jesus Christ, and yet not be selfish or in denial or unrealistic? Is there such a thing as tough joy, akin to tough love?
