Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 107:1-43. Verse 2, when and how has God redeemed me from the hand of the enemy? Whom can I bless today by telling them about it?
I Chronicles 20:1-8. After Goliath, more giants arise to defy Israel. When have I had to face down the same enemy repeatedly? What did God teach me? Present application?
Ephesians 4:17-24. Learning from Jesus Christ how to put off the old man and put on the new. At this stage of my life, this year let’s say, what does that involve? What is today’s specific task?
Luke 13:22-35. Verse 31, warned of death threats from King Herod, Jesus brushes him off as “that fox.” Do I and my church take political issues too seriously or not seriously enough?
