Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 1:1-6. Verse 1, asking God to bless me today, what fruit do I want to bear for him? What leaf of mine do I want him to keep unwithered? What endeavors of mine do I want him to prosper?
II Chronicles 10:1-19. Solomon’s son, succeeding him, arrogantly provokes civil war. What are the forces today tending to divide both the body of Christ and our country? What is my church doing about it? My role?
Revelation 7:1-8. Angels place God’s seal on his servants. How can I recognize someone thus sealed? Do I know anyone who is? How might I attain this distinction?
Matthew 5:1-12. Jesus’ eight keys to blessedness, or beatitude. Which one shall I strive for with special intentionality today?
