Bible Wednesday 12/1: Christ the King

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 80:1-19. Verse 5, when have I felt God was giving me nothing but tears to eat and tears to drink? What did I learn? Present application?

Esther 3:1-15. Haman plots genocide against the Jews. Theologically, what’s going on with the virulent persistence of Jew-hatred down through the ages? What debt do I and my church owe the Jews?

Revelation 11:15-19. Seventh angel proclaims Jesus as king forever. How would I explain this to a young seeker who objects that our world has outgrown monarchy in favor of democracy, rights, and the equality of all?

Matthew 21:18-22. What obstacle, looming like a mountain, do I hope to see removed today through prayer?
