Bible Thursday 12/30: The Reckoning

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 146:1-10. Verse 7, who am I concerned about that is materially or spiritually imprisoned right now, needing God to set them free?

Jonah 3:1-10. Jonah’s sermon of a single sentence turns Nineveh around. What mission of mercy must I soon perform for God, where mere words won’t be enough? What else is needed, and how can I bring that?

Revelation 21:9-27. The new Jerusalem, the Lamb’s wife. What relevance does this city have for my earthly life here and now? How can I qualify to be admitted as a citizen there?

Matthew 25:14-30. What particular talents has Jesus entrusted to me? How well pleased is he with the way I have multiplied them so far? Action point for the coming year?
