Bible Wednesday 12/29: Got Oil?

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 144:1-15. Verse 15, in what way does America’s unhappiness right now stem from having forgotten God? What is my church doing about it? My role?

Jonah 2:1-10, When has desperate adversity (the whale’s belly) driven me back to God? What did I learn? Present application?

Revelation 21:1-8. Verse 5, what is there in my life at present that I’d ask Jesus to make new? What would that look like, starting this coming year, this week, this day?

Matthew 25:1-13. How does this play out in my daily life, this duty of awaiting the bridegroom (Jesus himself), lamp burning, oil at the ready, untiring at midnight?
