Bible Wednesday 11/9: One Desire

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 27:1-14. Verse 4, how can I translate these poetic ideas into personal experience today? What’s meant in everyday terms by dwelling in God’s house, beholding his beauty, and inquiring of him?

Isaiah 14:1-32. Verses 9-17, does my church take hell and Satan (Lucifer) as seriously as the Bible does? How, if at all, does this concern me today? What’s at stake?

II Thessalonians 2:1-12. Verses 2-4, the man of sin, seeking to usurp God’s throne. If this and other Bible warnings are true, that things will get worse before they get better, what must I do to be ready?

Luke 18:9-14. Reviewing my prayer life this past week, which of Jesus’ two figures have I more resembled—the self-exalting or the self-abasing individual
