Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 139:1-24. Verses 7-12, when have I wanted to flee far from God, or hide from him in darkness? What did I learn? Present application?
Ezekiel 13:1-23. Verses 10-16, woe to the shoddy builders. How does this apply to some Christian leaders of today? How can I know if my church is building to last, building to God’s specifications?
I Peter 3:13-22. Verse 15, be ready to answer with a reason of my Christian hope. What’s my answer if given a) 30 seconds on an elevator, b) 5 minutes across the back fence, c) half an hour over coffee?
John 4:1-14. Related, what can I learn about evangelism from Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well? Who that needs the gospel can I approach and “ask for a drink of water” one day soon?
