Bible Wednesday 4/27: He Must Increase

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 136:1-26. Israel’s immense debt of gratitude to God. What are five obvious things I can thank God for today? What are five more things, less obvious? Why does gratitude to Him matter?

Ezekiel 12:1-28. Verses 22-25, God warns Israel: Time’s up. Do Christians at present have too much of a business-as-usual complacency? What is my church doing about it?

I Peter 3:1-12. How men and women are to treat each other. Is this culturally outmoded, relic of a bygone time, or God’s timeless standard to all his people always? Measured by this yardstick, where do I come short?

John 3:22-36. Verse 30, by what attitudes and actions today can I align myself with the increasing of Christ and the decreasing of self? How will I know it’s working?
