Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 11:1-7. Verse 3, nearby in my community right now, what are some foundations of a strong, stable, godly way of life that need strengthening? How can I work on that, God helping me, this coming year?
Deuteronomy 4:1-49. Verse 24, God is a consuming fire. What must I therefore avoid and beware of today? Why can I therefore feel grateful, eager, and secure today?
II John 1-13. Verses 4-6, in that our love for God and neighbor is only shown by walking in His commandments, does my way of life at present cast any doubt on my claims to love Him?
John 1:35-42. Verse 39, come and see. What would I do if I received such an invitation from Jesus, disrupting my plans for 2024? If he “rang me” for that very purpose, would I even notice?
