Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 92:1-15. Verse 4, what do I see God doing today that makes me glad? What do I see him doing that fills me with triumph? What’s the proper way for me to express those feelings?
Joshua 2:1-24. Rahab the harlot aids the Israelite spies. When have I seen God use a lowly or unlikely person to further his purposes? Is there a lesson here about how I should treat people?
II Peter 2:12-22. Verse 19, servitude disguised as liberty. How do today’s worldly belief systems promote this? Do I sometimes conform my faith to my politics, when God requires just the opposite?
Mark 14:12-26. Verse 22, Jesus institutes the Lord’s Supper, Holy Communion, or Eucharist. How important is this sacrament to me, really? Do my actions match my words?
