Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 71:1-24. Verses 5-9, what are the greatest praises and pains of my life up to now? The greatest hopes and fears of my life yet to come? Why not put all of it in God’s lap and face today lighthearted?
Deuteronomy 28:1-68. God sets clear choices before us, with clear consequences accordingly. When have I learned this the hard way? Action point for today?
Hebrews 11:8-22. Verse 17, faithful Abraham offers up Isaac. What is the hardest sacrifice God ever asked of me? How was I rewarded? Present application?
Matthew 11:25-30. What heavy burden have I been laboring under? What would it look like to give that to Jesus today and yoke up with him instead? What does his yoke require of me?
