Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 77:1-20. Verse 3, God gives us permission to complain to him. Is there a complaint I’ve been wanting to make? Is there a “but God” reply that I also know very well (verse 10)?
Deuteronomy 29:1-29. God makes a covenant with the Israelites after their 40 years in the wilderness. What does he expect of me today, under this covenant? What can I expect of him?
Hebrews 11:23-29. Verse 26, in what specific way am I offered on this very day the same choice as Moses—between the reproach of Christ and the treasures of Egypt?
Matthew 12:1-8. How well is Jesus pleased with my keeping of the sabbath day? What’s one practical change I could make, starting now?
