Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 39:1-13. Verses 1 and 3, in what way yesterday did I sin with my tongue? How can I do better today?
Isaiah 20:1- 6. For a sign to the nations, God makes the prophet go about naked and barefoot. When have I been forced to confront my utter dependence on Him? Application to present needs?
Revelation 2:1-7. Verse 4, leaving one’s first love. Was there a time when I was a more fervent Christian than at present? What has been the consequence of this gradual, unnoticed cooling-down? Action point?
Luke 20:20-26. Verse 25, rendering to Caesar and to God. With the election now behind us, have I been putting more weight on politics—for good or ill—than Jesus intends me to?
