Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 112:1-10. Verse 4, into what particular darkness am I praying that God will shed his light today?
Ezekiel 9:1-11. Verses 4-6, marking out the faithful few who grieve at seeing God dishonored. Does such fidelity describe me, or do I mostly go with the flow in these wicked times?
I Corinthians 6:12-20. Verse 20, not my own but bought with a price. What occurred yesterday, or may occur today, putting me to the test according to this high standard? Did I, or will I, make the grade?
John 3:1-8. What are some of the markers by which, without ever talking to me, a fellow believer or a non-believer could recognize me as having been born again in Christ?
