Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 56:1-13. Verses 3 and 4, what is my greatest fear at present? What would it look like for God to annul that and rescue me? First step for today?
Leviticus 7:1-21. What is my offering to the Lord today? Need I make sure it is purposely and explicitly given, or is it implicitly understood between God and me?
Ezekiel 46:1-24. Sacrificial duties of the prince. What was gained when religion and civil government were separated in our country? What was lost? Is my church alert to this issue?
John 16:16-24. Why does Jesus say that his crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension are the ultimate source of joy? How shall I express that joy as I go about my activities today?
