Bible Monday 1/27: Run the Race

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 70:1-5. Hurry up, God; what’s taking you so long? What situation in my life right now does this apply to? What unmet need is spurring me to pray with impatience, urgency, even desperation?

Genesis 27:1-46. Jacob and Rebekah trick Isaac, making Esau murderously angry. When has self-seeking trampled on love and loyalty in my family? How did God show up?

Hebrews 11:23-12:2. Verse 1, what is the race that Jesus commands me to run today? What is the prize? What are the hindrances? How does the cloud of witnesses help me fight and win?

Matthew 11:20-24. Jesus warns the towns that ignored his mighty works. How is my town doing on this score? What is my church’s response? My role?
