Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 69:1-36. Verse 5, You know my foolishness. Are there secrets I’m ashamed of, known only to God? Shall I honestly ask him to deal with those things today, as only he can?
Genesis 26:1-35. Verses 24 and 25, secrets of a better kind. When has God whispered to me a quiet assurance of his favor and faithfulness? How can I lean on that today to meet present demands?
Hebrews 10:18-39. Verse 19, how will this day be different if I approach the throne of God with boldness through the blood of Christ?
Matthew 11:1-19. Verse 17, Jesus warns against trying to follow him with moods and fads, emotionalism and enthusiasm. What kind of attitude and purpose does he want from me instead of these?
