Bible Sunday 2/23: Phony Faith

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 130:1-8. For what do I need God’s forgiveness today, here and now? Who needs forgiveness from me? What’s at stake if these are neglected?

Hosea 4:1-19. What would it look like for me to serve God and my neighbor today in the role of a priest and in the role of a prophet? What’s at stake if this is neglected?

Romans 6:12-23. What was one specific moment yesterday when I had to choose between acting in sin and acting in righteousness? How can I do better when that moment of choice comes upon me today?

Matthew 21:23-32. Jesus finds the religious leaders guilty of play-acting. And what about me? Watching me so far in 2025, does the Lord find I’m serious about the kingdom of heaven, or just going through the motions?
