Bible Saturday 3/22: Try a Dose of This

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 55:1-23. Verses 12-16, what’s the name of someone who I feel betrayed me, or whom I myself betrayed? How can I go about making that right between us? Why does it matter?

Proverbs 17:1-28. Verse 22, how can the merry heart (cheerful or joyful in other versions; see also Prov. 15:13 and 17) be good medicine if ill health relentlessly robs my joy? Must I live in denial, God help me?

Romans 16:17-27. Verses 25 and 26, how can the preaching of Jesus Christ, revealing long-hidden mysteries, change my situation today—and the situation of others who are struggling?

Matthew 18:1-9. What’s involved in my obeying Jesus today by becoming more childlike and by attending more lovingly to the children he so values?
