Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 22:1-31. When have I felt God had forsaken me, turned his back, stopped caring about me? How did he show up, and what did I then learn? Application to present needs?
Zechariah 13:1-9. Verses 6 and 7, how is my daily life different from knowing that the crucified and risen Jesus is my shepherd and I am his sheep? Why are the wounds in his hands important to me?
Matthew 26:57-27:10. In the coming week, how will I measure up when those well-disguised moments come to me as they did to Peter—the moments of choice to take a risk for Jesus or to play it safe?
Matthew 27:11-61. Again, looking past the resurrection when things are “normal” again, how will others know by my actions that I serve not the violent and lawless Barabbas, but Jesus the King of kings?
